No matter how comfortable you feel playing your game, you need to change it if you want to win the match. Everybody dreams about a better world, in which people can be trusted and make ethical decisions. How are you contributing to a better world? Be a role model. Be honest with people. Think about the consequences of your actions. Remember the Golden Rule: do to others what you would like them to do to you.

6. Be empathetic.

Empathy is key for emotional intelligence. The ability to understand other people and to be able to put yourself in their position to identify with how they are feeling has a huge impact on your success. Remember that you are not the center of the world. Your problems are not more important than other people’s problems.

Understand that people have different perceptions and sensibilities. Listen to what they have to say, and feel it. Be aware, however, that words are not always said, and empathy is always needed. Pay attention to other people’s body language to help you act according to the situation. Empathy is essential for communication, leadership, and management.

7. Energy is contagious, so make it positive.

A positive mindset affects the environment around you. While being empathetic, work on influencing people’s emotions positively. The happier you are, the happier you can make people around you. Happier people are more motivated to succeed and, consequently, more productive. Stop complaining, avoid pessimism, and repel negativity!
